Gain some momentum

According to Newton’s laws of inertia and momentum, a body in motion remains in motion unless it is acted on by an external force. Likewise, a body at rest remains at rest until an external force gets it moving. While it takes a significant amount of energy to get a resting body to move, once it is up and running it takes a much smaller amount of energy to keep it going.

Avoid being a perfectionist when you get started on a goal. You want to apply the necessary external force and launch yourself into movement. If you need to do something and you are having a hard time getting motivated to start, spend ten minutes at maximum energy, and then decide if you still want to do it.

The maintenance of your momentum is essential if you want to succeed. Once you launch yourself towards a goal, do not allow yourself to slow down and stop. If you stop part-way through a goal, you may find that getting yourself to start again is too hard and you give up.
