Model successful people
In order to improve the way you do things you have to select the right behaviours. Rather than learning what does and does not work through trial and error, it is much faster and more efficient to model someone else who is successful at what you want to do. Once you find people who have the results that you want, you need to discover exactly what they do to get those results. Then you can do the same things and achieve the same level of success. The more specific you are about the behaviours that create success, the better your results will be when you put the strategies in place.
If you do what the experts do, you will get the same results.
Find a person who has a skill you wish you could have. It could be anything at all, but a simple skill is much easier to model. Ask them how they do it, and/or watch them in action.
Here are some examples of questions you could ask people
you want to model:
- What is the first action in the sequence?
- What do they do next?
- What do they pay attention to?
- What outcome do they expect?
- What do they do if it is not working?
- How do they motivate themselves?
