Take time out
All work and no play, dulls the mind and makes your perception hazy. It is very difficult to be creative when you are feeling tired or burnt out, and so you will be less capable of considering other people’s viewpoints or generating alternative ways of perceiving your situations. If you are overworked you will revert to old habits and undermine your good intentions.
At times, especially when life becomes fast-paced, it is useful to step back from our activities and make sure that what we are doing reflects what we value most. When you observe your life in this way, you take on a fresh new perspective and insight. When things get hectic and you feel overwhelmed and tired, it may not seem like the right time to step back, but taking a few hours or days to refocus on what will really bring happiness will allow you to come back to your tasks renewed. Once you have your core values in mind they will act as a filter, allowing you to do the things that are most important. The right direction will emerge from amongst all the confusion.
Do something purely for fun! Don’t worry about achieving or developing anything, just have a good time. If you release yourself from your usual pressures you might have a burst of creativity and solve a problem that has been on your mind for a while.
